WiMAX Sites Connectivity
As shown on Figure 1, WiMAX sites have two options for connecting to GENI:
- Direct ION connection to GENI backbone: this is prefered method for connecting to GENI I2 backbone. The site needs connectivity to one of the I2 ION points-of-presence or NLR points-of-presence.
- L2TP connection through Rutgers: is overlay based solution for sites that don't have ION connectivity. It is based on Linux based L2TP tunnel over commodity Internet to externally visible endpoint at Rutgers/ORBIT site and, through it, to the GENI I2 backbone.
