WiMAX Sites Connectivity
As shown on Figure 1, WiMAX sites have two options for connecting to GENI:
- Direct connection to GENI backbone: is the preferred method for connecting to GENI backbone. The site needs direct or indirect connectivity to one of the I2 ION points-of-presence or NLR points-of-presence.
- L2TP connection through Rutgers: is an overlay based solution for sites that don't have direct connectivity. It is based on Linux based L2TP tunnel over commodity Internet to externally visible endpoint at Rutgers/ORBIT site and, through it, to the GENI I2 backbone.
